In the past, they were used as a shelter, storage for tools and a place to rest. There are more than 15 of such structures that can be found in the vicinity of Vela Luka. The largest one is located in Gornja Njivica and is 4.23m tall. Torete (5) can be found in wine yards in Smokvica.
