Camino Kor\u010dula \u2013 A Journey Through History and Nature<\/p>

The current Camino Kor\u010dula route is designed as a circular trail spanning 160 kilometres, starting and ending in the town of Kor\u010dula, in front of St. Mark\u2019s Cathedral, one of the island\u2019s most significant sacred monuments. Along its path, the route passes through all the settlements on the island, covering its central, southern, and northern regions. Special attention has been given to including key cultural, historical, and natural heritage sites, with an emphasis on sacred landmarks that testify to the island\u2019s long and rich history.<\/p>

This route primarily follows existing walking trails and island roads, allowing pilgrims and active tourism enthusiasts to explore Kor\u010dula through its authentic landscapes. The route\u2019s planning also highlights the gastronomic aspect of the journey\u2014pilgrims have the opportunity to taste local products at wine and olive oil tasting venues and meet artisans producing traditional delicacies that reflect the distinctiveness of Kor\u010dula\u2019s cuisine.<\/p>

The More\u0161ka fencing game is performed regularly during the summer months and on St. Todor, patron of the City of Kor\u010dula (July 29). Documents confirm with certainty the performance of more\u0161ka in the 17th century, although it is assumed that this fencing game is older (16th century - related to practicing fencing techniques).<\/p>

Through the dialogue, we follow the action in which Moro (the Arab king) kidnaps the beauty "bula" and then follows the battle of the armies of the black and white king. More\u0161ka consists of seven kolaps and ends with the release of the bull and the return to the beloved Osman (Turkish king). More\u0161ka was created based on the cultural trends of European cities of that time and the performance of customs and music.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Vela setemana (Holy Week) in the town of Kor\u010dula is marked by solemn processions in which members of the town\u2019s three confraternities take part. Dressed in traditional tunics, they carry richly decorated torches (candles), ceremonial staffs (cereferales) and candelabras, offering a unique insight into the centuries-old traditions of Kor\u010dula\u2019s confraternities in the days leading up to Easter.<\/p>

Vela setemana in the town of Kor\u010dula is listed in the Register of Protected Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Croatia as an item of intangible cultural heritage. Today, three confraternities are active in Kor\u010dula: the All Saints\u2019 Confraternity (founded in 1301), the Confraternity of St Roch (1575), and the Confraternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Consolation \u2013 of the Girdle (1603).\u00a0<\/p>

Eight knightly associations of the island of Kor\u010dula perform unique dances with swords that date back to the early seventeenth century: in places on the island, the knightly associations perform a kumpanija-chain dance with swords, while in the town of Kor\u010dula, the More\u0161ka sword dance with two swords, for which the island of Kor\u010dula is famous, is performed in the world. More\u0161ka and kumpanije from the island of Kor\u010dula are protected intangible cultural assets of the Republic of Croatia. Records from the court file in which more\u0161kants are mentioned from 1666. confirms the performance of more\u0161ka in Kor\u010dula. The oldest document that records the company dates from 1620.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Vela Luka Outdoors<\/span><\/a> is certainly one of the most important sports events on the island of Kor\u010dula that started in 2014. It is held during September, and this is a great opportunity for all recreationists, trekkers and cyclists, as well as nature lovers. Vela Luka Outdoors consists of trail and MTB races that take you through the beautiful nature of Vela Luka and its surroundings, the Vela Luka olive groves and vineyards, and viewpoints offering a view of numerous bays and surrounding islands. Trail races are divided into two categories: Veli trail with a length of 27 km and Small trail with a length of 13 km. At the end of October, and on the eve of All Saints' Day, every canton of Vela Luka smells of Lumblija. The intoxicating smell of this autumn delicacy, with its specific aroma and excellent taste, evokes memories of some bygone times, of carefree childhoods and grandmother's kitchen.<\/p>

Lumblija is a ceremonial sweet bread, an aromatic sweet and fragrant confection that is prepared in Vela Luka and the western part of the island of Kor\u010dula on the eve of All Saints' Day.<\/p>

The custom called \"Kolinda\", in which children visit their relatives and godparents and present them with lumblia, almonds, tangerines, dried figs and other autumn fruits, has been cherished in Vela Luka since ancient times.<\/p>

In order to preserve the tradition of our grandmothers, and present this ancient recipe to the furesti, in Vela Luka we are celebrating the centuries-old tradition of making this exceptional cake, rich in taste, a symbol of Veloglu gastronomy, with the multi-day event "Stajun od lumblije".<\/p>
